After medical training, Dr Sharad Haridas undertook specialist training in Psychiatry through the Charing Cross and North Central Schemes in London, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015. He has since held several lead Consultant roles within the NHS, while also offering private consultations for individuals experiencing mental ill-health alongside co-occurring substance or behavioural dependencies.

Dr Haridas brings sensitivity and a nuanced understanding to his work with those seeking support for mental health difficulties. He knows empathy is central to recovery. When you come to see him, you can expect a thorough and thoughtful assessment of a wide range of mental health conditions, ranging from depression, anxiety, OCD, psychosis, stress-related disorders, to neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, and complex trauma, including PTSD. He has a special focus on substance misuse and behavioural addictions—a field in which he is both deeply passionate and highly committed.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Haridas has served as an honorary lecturer at UCL Medical School and continues to teach psychiatry trainees. He was principal study doctor on a landmark trial at Imperial College London, exploring the effects of DMT on the human brain.

Dr Haridas is committed to exploring innovative and emerging treatments for mental health and the neuroscience that drives these advancements. One of his key areas of interest is in the growing field of gut-brain health, recognising how gut and brain communicate via the gut-brain axis - a communication system linking the gastrointestinal tract to the brain, influencing mood, cognition and overall well-being. His ongoing research focuses on how lifestyle changes, like intermittent fasting and diet, can optimise this connection to improve mental and physical health, mood regulation, and cognitive function. By enhancing the balance of gut microbiota, he believes that it is possible to foster better mental health outcomes, improve mood regulation, and support cognitive function.
